If you want to find the world’s best poker players, follow the money. Last week, we profiled the top five earners among European Epic Poker League members from 2011. This week we will focus on Epic’s top North American earners. You already know which name takes the top slot this year, but there were plenty of other notables who brought in big bucks over the course of 2011. Of the 62 players who earned over $1,000,000 this year, over 40% of them were members of the Epic Poker League. The five players profiled below had great years, but what makes their 2011 tournament earnings all the more impressive is that none of these numbers are all that surprising; we expect these kinds of performances from these players.

Before the Black Friday poker indictments of April 15, 2011, poker’s trajectory was, if not set, easily discernable. A new generation of poker professionals had been launched during the Online Era, with increasing numbers playing for more money and individual successes seemingly growing. The new online professionals also succeeded in live poker, many winning in the biggest cash games and biggest tournaments soon after they reached legal age.
