Epic Adventures: The Night Before

Player experiences the night before a major tournament run the gamut for some, it is highly ritualized, complete with meticulously selected nutritious food, a good night’s rest, a trip to the gym, or simply some stress-free “me” time. For others, it is a chance to catch up with friends that you don’t get to see too often. It is one last chance to unwind before you have to focus and get into the proper mindset required to play four or five days of quality poker.

Michael Craig on Poker: Joe Tehan’s Sickest, Smartest Move

Friday, February 10, at 10 PM ET, Velocity will show the first episode of Epic Poker’s third Main Event, the Mix-Max Championship. Although the focus is on the final three tables that made the money, then the final table, and then the best-of-three heads-up match, the remarkable “Bubble Hand” made it into the broadcast. All the players during the final two days of play earned at least $50,000 and had a shot at the first prize of $801,000. The two players who busted on the bubble, however, received no money, and the player who busted them on a controversial play entered the money as the chip leader.

Freddy Deeb and Faraz Jaka Give Opponents the Business, with Style

Sometimes in the poker world, we become so preoccupied with the fact a player is winning, that we don’t often give enough attention to how they do it. Two exceptions to this rule remind how entertaining poker players can be. Professional poker players are – or can be – brand names, and last week, Faraz Jaka and Freddy Deeb displayed their brand of excellence. Faraz Jaka played his way to a third place finish in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event and Freddy Deeb won his first-ever World Series of Poker Circuit Ring in the WSOPC Main Event at the Bicycle Casino.

The poker story at the start of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $10,000 Main Event weas Faraz Jaka. The skilled and colorful pro grabbed a big stack early, spent several days near the chip lead, and began the final table with the lead. At the end, Faraz had to settle for third place. Westchester, New York stock trader John Dibella parlayed a $1,000 satellite seat into a payday of $1.775 million, defeating online pro Kyle Julius heads-up.

Epic Poker Mix-Max Main Event Day 3: Slow Start, Fast End

Day 3 of the Epic Poker League’s Mix-Max Event took less than five hours to come to an end, but the action on Friday was among some of the craziest in recent memory. In just over two levels, 25 players were whittled down to the final twelve and the money bubble was burst on a three-way all-in that won’t soon be forgotten.
