GPI Update: Lichtenberger Joins the Top Ten; EPT Madrid and Wynn Classic Make Their Marks

Jason Mercier, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Shawn Buchanan remain at the top of the Global Poker Index this week with Mercier still sitting comfortably at Number One. Joining them at the top is Eugene Katchalov who moves up two spots to GPI#4. Katchalov should feel right at home in the fourth spot having spent twenty-six of the past thirty-nine weeks in that position, including sixteen straight weeks beginning in November.

Social Director: Twitter Vets Face Off in Epic Heads-Up Final

The heads-up battle in the recently completed December $20,000 Epic Poker League Main Event came down to Chris Klodnicki and Andrew Lichtenberger. In a novel Mix-Max format, the two played the best-of-three heads-up match to determine the winner. Carrying their respective deep chip stacks into the match, the first round won by Klodnicki took almost four hours. Klodnicki would ultimately prevail to claim the $801,000 prize, champion’s ring, and title. Lichtenberger collected $514,000 for his runner-up finish, after taking fourth in last week’s Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $218,000.

Epic Adventures: A Lawyer, a Magician, and a Kid Named Chewy

Don’t let the titles and the nicknames fool you—Vanessa Selbst, Antonio Esfandiari, and Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger are about as tough as they come, which is why they managed to navigate through a stacked field to make it to the final table of the World Poker Tour’s Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio earlier this month.

Mix-Max Main Event Final Table: Klodnicki Wins the Marathon

Five players began the Final Table and it took nearly 15 hours until Chris Klodnicki was crowned the Mix-Max Main Event Champion.

Epic Poker Mix-Max Main Event Day 4: Early Night and Big Stacks

Another short but action-packed day in the Epic Poker League’s Mix-Max Event has set up a final table that will feature a lot of play and five very different personalities battling out for the championship on Sunday.
